First Steps: Baptism

Baptism: Day 6

Day-6 // Growth

And all who have been united with Christ in baptism have put on Christ, like putting on new clothes. Galatians 3:27

Not only is baptism an important step of obedience following our salvation, but it is also an important step of growth in our relationship with God. You see, expressing belief in God and being baptized is not the end goal in our relationship with God. It is just the beginning. You see, like any relationship, the desire is growth. The desire is to know God better and become more like Him. Baptism is a step of growth in our relationship with Him. It is a step of showing God and others your commitment to Him publicly. In fact, after baptism, we hope you will get serious about prayer and Bible study, that you will get connected with a small group, and that you will even start serving in a ministry. Baptism was never meant to be a destination; it was meant to be a starting point. The reason we baptize publicly is to announce to the world our commitment to Christ. When you get baptized, you also have a whole church of people who are committed to encouraging and cheering you on in your commitment to Christ. We are praying that you will continue to take the next steps in your walk with Christ!

Prayer: Tell God that you love Him and that you desire a deep relationship with Him, just like He desires a deep relationship with you.
