Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. Matthew 7:7-8 (NLT)
When we pray, we can’t give up. Like a persistent person that does not relent, we have to continue to approach God about what we need. It is important to note that God always responds to our prayers. Sometimes it isn’t the answer that we are looking for, but He does give us a response. Although His response is not usually audible, He often answers our prayers in one of three ways: “yes,” “no,” or “not yet.” Sometimes He says “yes” to our request and opens a way when we pray. Sometimes He says “no,” especially when the things we are praying for do not align with His plan for our lives. Sometimes, He says, “not yet.” When He says “not yet,” we must learn to wait. This is important because when we sense that God’s response is “not yet,” we have to be faithful to continue to commit that request to God. We must refuse to give up in asking God for what we need.
Prayer: What do you need to ask God for today? Pray about these things. As you are praying, think about how God is able to open doors when you seek after Him. Refuse to give up by praying big prayers in your life. These prayers can sound like, “God change my family,” “God help me to share my faith daily,” “God give me courage to defeat this addiction,” and “God put me in a ministry where I can serve you best!” Remember, when you pray these big prayers, God hears and responds to each prayer you pray to Him.
