BREAK THE ICE

When was the last time you reset a video game or app? In your own words, would you describe yourself as a rage quitter? 

SMALL GROUP QUESTIONS

1. In your words, explain what sin is.

2. When it comes to sin, are you more likely to minimize it and see it as not a big deal or maximize it and convince yourself that there is no way God will forgive you? Why?

3. Read Psalm 86:5. What do we learn about God in this verse?

O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive, so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.

4. Read Psalm 103:12. What does this picture of God removing our sin “as far as the eastern horizon is from the west” show us about God’s forgiveness and sin?

He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west.

5. How does this understanding impact your view of God?

6. What do you think it means to “repent” when we sin?

7. Read 1 John 1:9. What happens when we confess sin and turn away from it?

But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.

8. Do you find it easy or difficult to accept God’s forgiveness? Why or why not?

MOVING FORWARD

The news that we studied in Scripture today that God forgives is too good not to share with others. Who is one person you know who you can share this amazing truth with? Tell your group. Then, pray together for each of these people you mentioned and pray that they would understand the love and forgiveness that God offers.
