Becoming a Disciple - Week 6, Day 1

Guidelines for Grey Areas (7 Key Questions)

Do you ever have those moments in your life when you just don’t know what to do or which direction to go? You know, the times in your life when you are unsure if what you are about to do is right or wrong? Well, I have, multiple times, and to be honest with you, I got tired of making the wrong choices.

A few years ago, a friend of mine shared with me the following questions that have helped me, big time, find out which way God wants me to go. After all, if you’re a Christian, you want to please the Lord with your decisions. It makes sense to check out what He has to say in His word. So here is my Top 7. Write this in the front of your Bible, and the next time you are unsure which way to go, read these questions, look up the scriptures, and God will give you a clear answer. I guarantee it.

1. Do I honestly want to know what God wants in this area of my life?

2. Is there a scripture passage or biblical principle to consider or apply to this situation?

3. Have I sincerely prayed and asked God what I should do?

4. What advice are other godly people giving me?

5. Will doing this help me to be more like Jesus?

6. What would Jesus do in this situation?

7. Do I honestly have peace about doing this?

Time Out

1. Where are you going to place these seven questions so you can use them in your tough decisions?

2. What are some situations that you need to use these questions in?

3. The Bible says in Proverbs 3:5-6 to “Trust in the Lord with all of your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all of your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.”

A. What does it mean to acknowledge him in all your ways?

B. Why shouldn’t we lean on our own understanding?

Memory Verse:

Jesus replied, "You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind."
