Fruit of the Spirit Pt. 2 - Week 4, Day 1

Day 1: Goody, Goody (Being a Good Person)

We spent a little bit of time talking about being kind now let's talk about being good. God has good things that He wants you to accomplish for His kingdom. What He has planned for you doesn’t begin in the future, but it begins right here and right now.

Proverbs 3:27-28 (NIV) “Do not withhold good from those who deserve it, when it is in your power to act. Do not say to your neighbor, "Come back later; I'll give it tomorrow"-- when you now have it with you.”

God’s word says when you and I see a need, and it is within our ability to meet that need, we are to be the ones who get in the game and fill the need.

Do you know who the happiest people on the face of the earth are? They are the people who leverage all that they have and all that they are for the kingdom of God. Do you want to see a bunch of happy people? You will see them out in our parking lot directing traffic. You will see them every third Saturday of the month repairing cars for single moms and the elderly in our pit stop ministry. You will find them at the jail sharing a message of hope that God is not through with you; that He still has a plan and purpose for your life; that He has not given up on you; and He never leaves your side.

If you want to find happy people you will find them at our M1 Impact day. They are rolling up their sleeves and getting dirty meeting a need in our community.

You will find them at one of our multi site campuses at 6:00 AM pulling trailers to setup and tear down the equipment, so we can have church at our campuses that are still portable. You will find happy people in the preschool ministry changing diapers and teaching toddlers about Jesus. You will find them in Kid’s Planet singing songs and having fun sharing with children the difference Jesus can make in their life. You will find happy people in the midst of hundreds of High Schoolers and Middle-Schoolers on Tuesday and Wednesday nights volunteering.

Jesus himself said in Acts 20:35, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”

The only people who don’t know this truth are the people who have never tried it. There is a joy that we have in doing good when we are using our gifts for God, and there is emptiness in our life when we don’t.

The question is: What good thing is God calling you to do, but for whatever reason you have refused to do it?

Time Out:

What good thing is God calling you to do, but for whatever reason you have refused to do it?

Are you using your gifts and talents in helping our church be all that God intends for it to be?

How could you make a difference for the kingdom of God in the following places…

At home:

At school:

At work:

At church:

The Bible says “Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn’t do it, sins.” James 4:17

What does this verse mean?

What are you going to do about it?

Don't you see how wonderfully kind, tolerant, and patient God is with you? Does this mean nothing to you? Can't you see that His kindness is intended to turn you from your sin?" Romans 2:4
